Moyes’ post match reaction vs Blackburn Rovers

Everton manager David Moyes felt his side deserved their success after claiming Formica had dived for Blackburn’s two penalties.

The Scot was also adamant that his side deserved their late penalty as they bounced back from a 1-0 home defeat to open their season against QPR last weekend.

“I think the two Blackburn got are both dives and I think ours is a penalty kick,” he said.

“I say it as I see it and I’m telling you the boy Formica goes down too easy for the penalty kicks.

“Then Samba is definitely has two hands on Fellaini’s shoulders going for the header.”

He added: “The game lasts for however long it lasts. You have to take your chances whenever you get them.

“We didn’t get an awful lot but when we did, the one penalty kick we got we took it.”

Moyes admitted he had been surprised when Arteta stepped up to take the match-wining penalty, instead of regular taker Leighton Baines.

“Yeah I was (surprised), because Bainesy normally takes them,” he added.

“Players are players, aren’t they?

“I don’t really care as long as it goes into the back of the net. I might have had something to say if it doesn’t.

“He scores so it’s fine.

“We know we have to play better than that. But the important thing in the end was the result and we got that.”
