Everton are closing in on a deal for Neftchi Baku’s 18-year-old Azerbaijan midfielder Araz Abdullayev.
The player made his international debut at 16 and has already had trials with Rubin Kazan and a couple of Italian clubs.
He was shown around Goodison Park last month and is hoping to move to Everton subject to a work permit.

After England's crappy showing in the World Cup you would think that the Premier Clubs would invest more in bringing through English talent and investing in players that can play as a team instead of surrounding a few England stars with talent from overseas. I am sure this player is a great find and will be a good asset to Everton but if this keeps up we are going to be on a hiding to nothing again in 2014.
steve im more bothered about everton than i am england. If these youngsters are gonna improve my club then im all for it and by all accounts this boy is gonna be something special. England football team is just full of ego's Rooney,Gerrard,Terry and i very quickly got over the world cup disapointment and im looking forward to this season. Moyes has acted quickly in recruiting this summer and im glad he is investing in youth, Moyes knows how the bring them through and improve them.
I really dont give a toss about England…Everton is my first and only team.
Totally agree with dave on this one. I don’t care if our players are all British as long as they improve our club. If the English/British players are good enough they will come through without any problems. I don’t think anyone can criticise Everton over their youth policy!
