Philippe Senderos admits that he is looking forward to making the most of his opportunity at Everton.

The Swiss defender moved to Goodison Park on loan from Arsenal for the remainder of the season and is aiming to hold down a regular place in David Moyes’ side.

“I’m not the kind of person that looks back too much,” he says. “I am just happy to be here at Everton and hopefully I can express myself on the pitch. This club has a lot of history and the manager said there would be some opportunities here for me, so hopefully I can grab them.

“It is a massive opportunity for me. I really need to get back to playing week and hopefully I can do that here. When I get my opportunity, it will be down to me to play well and take it.

“Maybe it’s an opportunity for me to come here to Everton and prove who I am. It is more for myself than anyone else.”

Senderos will wear the number 23 shirt and is expected to be on the bench for tonight’s game against Sunderland.
